Designing Your Best Day Ever!

Ralph Waldo Emerson: “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”

DESIGN YOUR BEST DAY EVER

Have you heard this popular phrase “The best is yet to come?”  What comes to mind when you hear it?  Do you roll your eyes?  Did you think of everything that DID NOT make it the “best yet?”   Do you believe you can have and live your best life?  You may be thinking… “best life…I can’t even have a best day!” Understood. To start designing your best days ahead, you need two things: a healthy mindset and intention. Your best days will feed into your best year. It is not a one-and-done. It is a lifestyle. Even in the toughest moments of life, you can design a great day by utilizing your mindset. Remember, it is not being in denial of what is happening around you, but your perspective. Then, intention will help you start “the design process” of your reactions, actions, and thoughts To have your best year ever, I want to encourage you to be intentional to have your best day … every day!  What?  Everyday?  I know that each day holds its own struggles, opportunities, and challenges (some you see and don’t see coming), but the goal is to show up with a healthy / growth mindset and be intentional to be your best, give your best, and do your best. AND you don’t have to be perfect at it…in fact, please don’t be perfect! Masterpieces are created every day from lessons learned.

Think about this:  what you believe is what you perceive, and you get what you expect.

If you expect the best is yet to come, I not only believe it is on its way, but I also believe it is present…now. You just need time to unpack it and discover it. Don’t rush it! Your best year is about you giving your best each day to yourself, to others and to your community… showing up to work and doing the work; responding to your challenges with intention, and creating moments that make you proud. Don’t let disappointments, discouragement, mistakes, and people who are not on board with your dreams deter you from having the best day and the best year ever.  Have you seen the movie, Soul Surfer?   It is about the life of pro surfer Bethany Hamilton who had every reason to give up and not have the best life ever. She lost an arm to a shark attack, but that didn’t stop her surfing career.  While she encountered unique challenges and had to relearn how to surf again…through her mindset and intention, she found great strength and Godly inspiration to keep believing in her dreams. She not only became an inspiration to others, but she continued to surf, became a mother and is now a sought-after speaker.

USE STEPPING STONES TO CREATE YOUR BEST DAY AND YOUR BEST YEAR! The best way to face obstacles is to use them as stepping-stones. Laugh at them, lean into them, and let them lead you to something better. How do you create stepping stones out of fear, obstacles, and worry?

Ask yourself “Who do you need to become, to be the kind of person you want to be?”

DESIGNING YOUR COURAGEOUS DAY
Do you dread Mondays or do you look at the possibility of a new day or new week? How do you go from dread to doable? First, define what “best day” means to you. Your best day will be different from other people depending upon the season you are in… and that is okay. Here are some things to consider as you design your best day and your best year ever.

  • Live each day with an attitude of gratitude.

  • Make a plan, but keep it fluid.

  • Be Intentional – Let your MINDSET say and believe it is going to be a great day no matter what.

  • Reset your MINDSET and believe the best is yet to come and that you deserve it.

  • Be present - Focus on where you are, what you are doing and who you are with.

  • Declutter.  Declutter your physical space, your mindset, your emotions, and how you take care of your body.

  • Get fresh air every day.

  • Spend quality time with those who fill you up!

  • Squash your self-limiting beliefs.

  • Know your WHY and WHY it is important to you.

  • BE the incredible YOU.

Happiness doesn’t come from big pieces of great success, but from small advantages hammered out day by day.” – Jim Rohn

Creating your best courageous day is knowing you are needed and that you have been created with a purpose or mission. The theme of the mission helps you stay the course through the seasons of change, challenges, life-happening moments, and life lessons to be learned….but the mission will always be there. What is your MISSION?

Build Your Foundation with One Word

You can start designing your best year ever with a WORD. Your chosen WORD becomes the foundation to the best day and best year ever. How does that work?  Start with choosing a WORD for the year.  It may seem ridiculous, but it is powerful. Think about one word that will represent you in your decisions and actions. Your word will anchor your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and decisions and ultimately keep you on track.  Then, write the WORD on a few sticky notes and place them around the house (mirror, refrigerator) or write it on a whiteboard. You want to be able to see it several times a day!

Here are some examples:  Happiness / Significance / Vitality / Strong / Versatility / Intentional / Unapologetic / Courageous / Steadfast / Beautiful / Kindness  / Compassionate / Purpose Driven

“Never give up! Failure and rejection are only the first step to succeeding “ Jim Valvano

THIS I KNOW…..LIVE, LAUGH and LOVE!  Design your best day ever and let it map out your best year ever.  You deserve it.  You have overcome so much on so many levels, you have faced difficulties, rejection, pivoted, rebuilt your family and your life. Your story is just as important as someone else’s.

HAVE THE BEST DAY EVER and then watch it turn into your BEST YEAR EVER!
