Meet Your Coach

Stephanie Ritter Maat, President

Welcome to Courageous Living. We all have a story, so what is your story? Divorce, loss of job, new career, single parenting, starting a new business or just starting over…..I have walked this path my friend and one word stands out for me: EVOLVE. You are evolving in your story, just as I am. These experiences are your story, but they are not the end of your story!

First, I believe in you no matter where you are in your journey. All journeys are one step at a time and you are one decision away from changing your life. Coaching is proven to be the highest evolved methodology to design and create positive change in your life.  It is future-based and interactive as your plan unfolds to deal with today and build hope for tomorrow. Let’s start writing your next chapter…

Going down memory lane with this photo. This is one of my favorite family photos of my mother, dad, older sister and grandmother back when we lived in Maryland. I am the little one in the front!

Family is very important to me. I relate to each client as family. Do you have a favorite family picture?

ABOUT ME: Hello my friend, thank you for stopping by Courageous Living Today. Like you, I have found myself asking “is this all there is?” I have walked the paths of divorce, untimely loss of jobs (2008 recession and 2020 pandemic), navigating the waters of single parenting and walking the walk of faith even when everything was telling me differently.

I started my journey as a life coach when I lost my Human Resource Management job in 2010. A recruiter encouraged me to check out life coaching since I had been coaching for most of my HR career. Out of the ashes of unemployment came Courageous Living, LLC. I have two young-adult children who keep me very busy and a miniature Australian Shepherd. I love to garden, even though I don’t have a green thumb. I love to cook, but you won’t see me on Top Chef anytime soon. I work, have my life coaching clients, speak monthly at Second Saturday, coach at Women for Change Coaching Community and volunteer at O.U.R. I love to sit on my tiny deck and listen to the leaves rustle as the wind passes through them….it quiets my soul. I believe in life coaching so much, that I too, have a life coach. Statistically, it has been shown that you will accomplish your goals and you can accomplish them faster by having a life coach….so, let’s connect!

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.” Maya Angelou
